Alaric and Nerissa first met at an SCA demo in 1993.
Three years later, they reigned together as Prince and Princess of Lochac (Australia), in the days when it was still a principality of the West Kingdom.
Alaric was knighted in 1997, and in 2001 Nerissa was laurelled for her skill in the scribal arts. In their old barony, Alaric was also well known for his cooking skills, and Nerissa for her madrigal singing.
In August 2001 they married (in modern clothing) and headed off on a round-the-world honeymoon the next morning. Some 32 hours later they arrived at their first destination - Visby Medieval Week. Nerissa had told Alaric it's okay for him to bring his armour (all the way around the word) otherwise she would never hear the end of it.
In 2003, they were the third King and Queen of Lochac, only this time New Zealand had been added to that region. These two countries both have their own boards separate from SCA Inc. The issues of distance and isolation in such a vast, international Kingdom, are familiar to them. They also recognise and appreciate Drachenwald's uniqueness and diversity, with so many languages and cultures, both within and outside of the SCA.
During their Royal visit to Pennsic in 2003, they surprised a few people by: Nerissa running a class while Queen (apparently a first) and Alaric doing his own laundry!
A few years later, having realised they were not getting any younger, they moved here in May 2006, to seek new adventures and see the Great places of history with their own eyes.
Alaric's interests include: fighting, dance, cooking, and occasional woodwork. Nerissa's interests include: scribal arts, madrigal singing, harp playing, and pavilions. Outside of the SCA, "Steve" works in I.T. at a local school, and "Jen" is a graphic designer. They had previously lived in Brisbane, Australia, until moving to one of the most "diverse" places in the world - London. They are currently looking into buying a house in London.
